Day 28 June 14 home

Image
I walked the dog and got to play with Cody-o-dio. Then we departed for home. We plan to stop in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area on the way home. We stopped at the visitor center but it is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Couldn't get my stamp or sticker. Long slog home, but we'll see our Cody-odie-o soon.

Day 27 June 13 Hearst Castle and to Misty's

Image
We were debating about sleeping in the RV or the hotel room. We chose the hotel room but the bed was not good on Paul's or my back. Good to know the RV is more comfortable. Then on to Misty's to see our very active Cody.   Misty made a lovely lamb stew and a birthday cake for me. It was luscious!

Day 26 June 12 To San Simeon

Setting out about 9, we started south on CA-1, enjoying the coastal views. We are done with CA-1 for this trip. We are going to cut over to US-101 to avoid the windings of CA-1 through Big Sur. We did that many years ago on our bikes. Now, I'm the Central Valley with lots of farms. But a nice big, mostly straight road. Grapes, artichokes, other unknown greens. It's 98 degrees as we roll into Paso Robles. I put on the doggies shoes because he will burn his feet outside off I don't, and he needs a potty break. He didn't want to walk on the hot ground, even with his booties. We stopped at a Walmart and they had all we needed; DEF, window washer fluid, trash bags, and Pringles (priorities, ya know...). They even have a Burger King in the store. The generator kept the AC running for our doggo. Gone are the lovely green hillsides and forests, it's all brown now. We couldn't find a camping out boondocking loca...

Day 25 June 11 San Francisco Parks. Fort Point, SF Maritime Museum, Golden Gate Recreation Area, night 2 in Pacifica

We awoke to the WOF (wall of fog) we get in San Diego. We had to get out of our space at 11 and wait until 12 to get a new space assignment. Then we got a 34 dollar Uber to the Golden Gate Bridge Visitor Center. The bridge is shrouded in mist, as usual. We can only see the south part of the bridge.   Alcatraz Island    From they were walked to Fort Point and then to the Maritime museum.  We saw Alcatraz from a distance, and a guy with a mermaid tail swimming in the bay. I have 16k steps. Then we called an Uber for a ride back.  Worried about what the dog would have gotten into. He ate 3 croissants but didn't get into the chocolate.  We rested with the doggie when we got back.  The wall of fog returned in the evening.
