Day 11 May 28 2022 Olympic Nat Park day 2 of 4

Today we will start our attack of Olympic National Park. It is a drizzly morning. We have made an observation about the drivers in Washington and Oregon. Oregon drivers seem more mellow and Washington drivers seem to take more chances. Just an observation....

We saw the visitors center and the movie about the park.

We took the Peabody trail which was half a mile long into a canyon and back up. So lovely Braun seem to be having a good time. It's 50 degrees and still drizzling.

As we climbed higher into the park to Hurricane Ridge, the fog descended and you really could barely see the road.

It's 40 degrees. We saw a deer walking on the road. The fog is too dense to see any mountains or vistas.

We can see about 6 feet off of the road.

We took the 17 mile drive into the park hoping to get above the clouds, but no. It is actually snowing and the temp has dropped to 35 degrees. There is a lot of snow up here. I got a tongue-out Tuesday picture of Braun licking the snow off his face.

Paul got a map and a couple of T-shirts at the park.

We parked by the ice wall

Now it's on to Crescent Lake. It was way too crowded to find parking now, so we're going to try to see that in the morning. On State Route 112 heading toward Neah Bay, Paul found a heard of Roosevelt elk.

We found a little trail near the campground and had to take it...

And then back up to our campground for the evening. Maybe tomorrow will be sunnier.
