Day 14 May 31 2022 to Hoh Rainforest and Forks WA

Today we are off to Forks, WA. And another rainforest hike in Olympic National Park. There is no road through the park. Only is a road around the park and several roads going part way into the interior.

Braun is moving slow and didn't want to walk very far this morning. I think we made him sore from the pretty strenuous hike back up from the lighthouse lookout yesterday.

We had waffles for breakfast today. With our itty bitsy waffle maker. Next stop was La Push, a costal Indian town with sea stacks in the harbor. Very pretty.

Lovely path next to the road.

Onward we arrived in Forks.

We stopped at the Timber Museum, but ended up not going in.

Had lunch at Subway and went to the Hoh Rainforest.

At the Hoh Rainforest, I was afraid we would find no parking, but there was an RV section and a spot for us. The trail was much more beat up and used than the other several hikes that we've, done but the scenery still was beautiful.

We saw a ranger keeping an eye on pregnant elk that was laying on the ground.

The ranger said he will have to close the trails if she gives birth. He sent for his naturalist to find out if he can try to make her move or just close the trails. My guess is he's going to have to close the trail.

Twas a lovely little hike.

We arrived at our campsite by the beach in Kalaloch about 5 pm. It is rain-foresty, but you can hear the waves crashing on the beach. A short walk, albite muddy, and we were on the beach with lots of driftwood logs, rounded rocks, and a wide beach. Very chilly. We have no hookups here, but it is so lovely.
