Day 20 June 6 2022 to Eugene to pick up Joi's Bike

A rain free morning! Finally. Lots of clouds and some sucker holes. Even a bit of sun. We bid goodby to Kathy and Ken and headed toward Eugene to pick up my bike. They e-mailed that it was ready. I finally got pictures of Paul and Ellen.

Today is our first night with no reservations. I admit I'm a bit apprehensive about finding a place to stay.

We are going to try for the Elks Lodge in Eugene that had 5 full-service sites, but they are first come first serve, so we can't check until we get there. Hopefully we can stop at the elk reserve on the way to Eugene.  Paul wants to go to Cabela's and replace his boots that died on this trip. So it should be a full day.

We stopped briefly at the elk viewing area. There they are acting like elk. They are a long way away. But there is a lot of them.

We got to Eugene and I got trained in how to use the bike. It seems straightforward enough, and I got to try it a bit. I miss riding. We haven't been riding in a long time. We rode our bikes from Bike Friday up to the Elk's Lodge. There's no one here but there's a spot to leave a payment, so we figure we'll spend the night there. I wish I would have taken pictures of the new hub. But later I will. Now it's laundry up the wazoo. We went to a laundromat so we could do the sheets and rugs as well as the clothes. $20 later... It was $4.50 to use the washer and $0.25 for every 6 minutes in the dryer.

We went to the Elk's Lodge and someone was there. We paid our $15 for a space. There is someone there with 2 poodles. We had a meet and greet. The doggies got along for a bit, then one of them irritated our crotchety old man. They had a little tiff. Noting serious, though.

Then we went off to Cabela's for Paul to get boots. When we got back we visited again with the fellow camper with poodles. What a nice world.
