Day 5 May 22,2022 Cascade- Siskiyou Nat Monument, Crater Lake to Eugene Oregon

And we're off at about 8am. Lovely view of Shasta again.

We continued up I-5 and turned off on Oregon Route 66 that turned into 99. It's a cute little one lane each way road, in great shape, winding through the mountains. Paul's having fun except that we got a check engine light before we got to this road. We have no idea what it, means but we posted it on the LTV Facebook group to see if they can help us. The code reader never identified a code, so the people on Facebook said no problem, keep going. This was our message: "No power train DTC s or freeze frame data is presently stored in the vehicle computer.".

We made it to Klamath and got diesel. We felt so special, because you can't pump your own gas in Oregon. And $20 worth of gas gives you a free soda! Well, we got $75 worth of gas, so I guess we should have gotten three sodas. This is a lovely little spread-out town. I saw this poster on the wall of the VFW.

The Cascade mountains.

So far we have seen squirrels and turkeys, a flat skunk, and a family of metal moose.

We had no idea which mountain that was, but after I took its picture and used the Google Lens feature, it told us Mt. Adamson . It sure is pretty. The lake is Upper Klamath Lake. The lake is really huge.

It was really neat to go up to Crater Lake. There is a lot of snow piled up on the sides of the road. The store and restaurant are half buried.

We met Chris and Theon from Georgia in an LTV and exchanged pleasantries. They are off to Bend tonight, us to Eugene.

All you can get to is a parking lot, a snowy path to a lake overlook, and the concessions. They hope to have Rim Drive cleared of snow by July. We got our stamp and a substitute sticker. They don't stock the official one for some reason.

This beauty is Mt. Thielson

After we came down from Crater lake, we ran into Chris and Theon again, and followed them util our trips diverged.

The journey down the hill was through dense forest with streams every so often.

I'm starting to see moss on the trees.

We made it to Eugene and found our little park in Coberg. No picture tonight cuz we were in a bit of a rush to go meet Yvonne for dinner. We ate at Outback Steakhouse. Then it's back to walk the doggie and work on showers and organizing laundry for tomorrow.

Goodnight!
