Day 6 May 23rd 2022 Eugene with Yvonne

Our plan of the day includes laundry, dropping Joi's bike off at the Bike Friday factory, picking up some DEF, something to label the cap of the macerator hose, and a few groceries. Yvonne wants to watch movies when we get done with our errands.  Our home for 3 nights.



The bike Friday store had no notion we were coming. 🚴‍♂️🚴They have had some recent staffing changes and not good communication between each other. Our hearts sank. 😞 They however graciously added us to their schedule and said it would be done by the 3rd of June. They told us about a fabulous pastry shop we had to go visit.... So we did.


Then off to Walmart for Def, windshield washer fluid, Kleenex. Walmart sells kayaks here.

Never saw that in San Diego.

We added our fluids, got fuel, and somehow our check engine light went off. Not sure why, and not sure why it was on before, but we are happy.

We met Yvonne for lunch at a wonderful little pizza place. I wouldn't mind going back there again. The name was Nana's Coberg Pizza Co. The pizzas were piled high with toppings.  Then we came back to the RV and watched a movie. I took Braun over to the really nice dog park.



The weather has been so lovely!

We saw another LTV in the wild. They showed up at our RV park. What a small world. We shared our rigs and travel stories.


Then we went for a walk thru Coberg. Found City Hall, and a park with a bike repair pole, and a manual water pump for bikers.

Day 9 May 26 2022 tour Mt. Saint Helens

Today we drove to Johnston Ridge Volcano Observatory.  The observatory is still closed, but the parking lot and the views are still perfect.  It was 108 miles from our campsite.  Lots of lovely views of Mt. Saint Helens. It was sprinkling a bit, but not enough to make us think twice. The new erosion thru the ash that was deposited 40 years ago was amazing.   Yes, it was cold! 38 degrees... We got to see a family of mountain goats, as well as the huge volcano. It was interesting to see the rivers and canyons that have formed thru the debris field.  The trees look too perfect, all parallel. We went to Coldwater Lake and hiked a bit. It is still spitting rain, but not really raining, and it is 63 degrees. From there, we went back to the Visitors Center and hiked the trail around the marsh. Pre-Trip

We decided to go up to Misty's the weekend before this trip started to celebrate Mother's Day. I got to spin and do water aerobics before we left. As we were leaving, the Mailman came and brought the blog book from our last trip. That will be nice to share with Misty's family. As soon as Paul turned on the RV it complained it didn't have enough coolant. It was just serviced.... We stopped at the auto parts place to get coolant and topped it off. It wasn't low, but there was space to add some. It seems to be happy and is not overheating.  LA traffic was pretty cooperative. And diesel was $6.59 in Calabasas. We stopped at The Habit in Oxnard for lunch. We have never eaten at one. I tried siracha green beans and a veggie burger. Sounds interesting. Paul got a burger and fries. Day 4 May 21 2022 to Whiskytown Nat Rec Area and Yreka

Good morning world! I'm up at 6:30 and out to walk the dog. There are a few early risers. So beautiful, it will be hard to move on from here. So we dump the tanks and off we go. Our first mishap of the morning, Paul forgot to take the cap off the hose before he dumped. Not sure if he put a hole in the hose but he sure has a mess. That's the second time we've done that. I have to come up with something goofy and obnoxious to help him remember to take the cap off. Someone recommended bright nail polish to paint the cap red, or attach an obnoxious tag or sticker to it. 229 miles to Whiskeytown, our first sticker stop. It is not a national park, but a National Recreation Area, but it is in our book. Lovely rest stop off the I-5 in Yolo. We look miniature next to big ones.... As we're driving, we see lots of vineyards and orchards, but they're not playing the game fair. If you're going to grow something, you need to put a sign as to what it is...
